My (non requested) history in music

Music from the cradle…

My story with music literally begins in my crib. My mother would put the classical channel on national radio under my pillow.

There was never a lack of music in my home, especially rancheras and boleros that my mother sang while cooking or cleaning. She was my first music promoter.

At 5 years old I was singing rancheras at friends' parties and at 9 I was in the marching band at my elementary school. I tried the lyre, but then I liked it more and stayed with the snare drum. My first performances were in carnival parades.

The 90s began, and with the appearance of MTV A new panorama was opening up, later enriched by Sonoclips, a local TV show that brought me many late nights, and the desire to continue discovering alternative bands and artists.

My first records – gifts from my mother – were from "Colours by numbers" by Culture Club (1983), Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits (1985) and "Invisible Touch" by Génesis (1986).

Since then I dedicated myself almost exclusively to looking for different music on the alternative radio programs of the late 80s, and on the rock, jazz and classical music records that my friends brought from the United States or Europe.

When I was a teenager I entered the conservatory for the first time, but neither the theory nor the methods caught me. I didn't last long, but I still continued singing and looking for new music.

Musical studies...

In college I bought my first saxophone, which unbeknownst to me (or the seller) was a collector's item. A Buescher Aristocrat alto silver-plated bronze, limited series of 1949.

With this instrument I took private lessons with Glen Tomassi and Rodolfo Reyes, and in private courses at the National Conservatory. He played at university, private parties and with a blues band in student bars.

I auditioned at the San Francisco Opera and with Mirella Freni, and not getting it made me rethink my desire to sing: no longer to compete, but for pleasure.

Since then (2005), I only took a professional DJ course that I did not finish, and I dedicated myself to searching for and sharing music that excites me and news of interest. More recently, I enjoy teaching my children to appreciate different genres of music, from all eras and around the world.

And since our arrival in Montreal, encouraged by the local musical scene, I started this project to support musicians and continue sharing the best of this art that gives us life.

Finishing my undergraduate degree I returned to the musical academy, piano, theory, harmony, lyrical singing in the Jose Ángel Lamas Higher School of Music. I sang in the Teresa Carreño Theater Opera Choir, I participated in several recordings, I had a good salary and earned extra money at weddings and other events.

Scholarship from the Japanese government to study music at the Tokyo National University of Arts, I achieved my Master's Degree in Music, mention in Lyrical Singing (Baritone). I studied and performed with Umberto Giardini, Charles Dutoit, Wolfgang Sawallisch among other renowned directors.
